Dog Training Information
Dogs have told me they live a very uncomfortable life around humans if they do not know how you want them to act or behave.
When you’ve brought the dog home from the kennel and you’ve given him some food and a little milk, that’s the first payment in advance. As he starts to sniff around the “new big kennel,” gives all members of the family a few kisses then falls asleep in a corner, he’s accepted the job as the family pet. The two of you have just signed a business contract. The pup doesn’t know yet who the boss is – that’s you. And – the boss should have some idea about the assets of his new business partner i.e. good health, average intelligence and a puppy’s enthusiasm with limited attention span.
For nothing more than a little companionship, a wag of the tail, they get room and board, medical care, social security, plush living conditions, unemployment compensation, plus your easy chair. What kind of a business deal is that?
Your puppy is to be the worker – you the boss. Eventually, if he does his job well he’ll be made a full-fledged partner.
What’s to be required of you? Common intelligence applied every day and a will to stick to the job. If you are going to fool around, do it at the golf course. If you are a traveling salesman or a working mom, you may need some help.
Obedience training for the family dog’s not going to require too much of your time, but you’re going to have to be home to teach school.
You may just be having trouble getting started on a program and need some help or have trouble with specific issues.
For Pet’s Sake will help you get started with a free consultation including the family and your dog. From there you can decide how much help you need and FPS can provide you with a customized training program for your dog’s training needs.
